Although it is easy, navigating through all the files and folders on a hard drive can be frustrating. If you have to work with a large number of files and move them from one place to another, closing an explorer window by mistake will slow you down. Quick Cliq brings a whole new approach to basic navigation in Windows Explorer. You can use it to create and customize pop up menus with shortcuts to files, folders, applications, web pages and more.

Quick Cliq does not need installing. It comes in a 570 Kb archive and all you need to do is unpack it and run the application. You can get it for free and run it on Windows XP, Vista or Win 7.

Launching the application will place a new icon in the system tray and you can use it to bring up the main interface. With the aid of toolbar buttons, you have to create a tree structure which will serve as a pop up menu. Right clicking an item in the structure will display a series of options for setting an icon for that item, its font or associating it with a shortcut key. Right clicking the parent item in the tree will display additional options for sorting the items in a certain order or changing the background and font colors.

Each item will act as a shortcut for files, folders or certain actions. After selecting one, you can type a command in the lower area of the interface (run, regedit, etc.) and the item will execute it if you click it in the pop up menu. Alternatively, you can set them as shortcuts for files, folders, web pages and others. A button, also in the lower area of the window, will display a pop up menu where you can select the type of shortcut.

The way you organize the tree structure on the interface will reflect on the pop up menu. It will display the shortcuts in the same order you place them. Thus, a folder or anything else which is hard to reach can be accessed immediately with a shortcut after hitting a hot key. The best part is that Quick Cliq will not make use of too many resources while running in the background, so it can stay active at all times, without slowing your computer down.

Pros

The application does not need to be installed and it is free. It lets you customize pop up menus however you want and create shortcuts for any action or application on your computer.

Cons

It is possible to access a menu with mouse gestures, but you need some time and patience to figure out how this works. You can run any application or run any task with a single click of the mouse due to Quick Cliq's features. It lets you create pop up menus and customize them however you want.
